This is one of the better corset/stays patterns I have used. The directions and illustrations for this pattern are very clear, and the pattern pieces come together nicely. Even the boning guide is well illustrated (although small). The only issue I take is that the corset pieces are not all tabbed at the seams as they should be (for ease of construction). I had to add to the seam allowance on several of the pieces and cut tabs into them. Other than this little detail, this corset pattern is well drafted and relatively easy to construct for an experienced sewer.
For my corset/stays, I constructed them of pink satin, rose cotton piping, gold grommets, light pink cotton bias, and rose lace ribbon ties. Six layers: one satin, five muslin – boning channels stitched into the layers and boning encased in between. For any questions regarding this garment pattern, or any of the garment patterns featured on the Emerald Parlor, please contact me or Tonia, or post a comment – we’d love to hear from you!
