Angela – Recommend
This Elizabethan corset pattern is pretty straight forward – I recommend (as the pattern company suggests) that you read the directions completely before starting the construction process on this corset. It’s not that the construction is particularity difficult (although the pattern is certainly for an advanced sewer), but rather the company offers time-saving and practical tips to allow for better corset construction.
NOTE: I constructed this corset using my standard tailoring size 16-18 (according to my waist and bust measurement) and it was more than a size too large (my corset is fully boned, which will decrease the size of the finished garment). According to Mantua Maker’s instructions for my body type, I needed to go a side up, but this was not the case. As always with a stay/corset pattern (with any pattern), the pattern and instructions only serve as a guide – in order to get a precise fit, you must drape the garment and adjust where needed.
