1870s Bustle Walking Dress

This gown pattern, by Old World Enterprises, is relatively easy to construct. However, make note that the overskirt pattern pieces and the underskirt pattern pieces do not match up in length; the underskirt pattern pieces are off by 1-2 inches and the overskirt patterns pieces are off by 3-4 inches! When constructing this pattern the skirt pieces will have to be lengthened or shortened according to one’s preference. Aside from adjusting for basic measurements, such as the waist  and bust – and I did have to widen the armscyes by 1 inch – the remaining pattern pieces to the gown, such as the bodice and the sleeves, came together well and without issue.

Please make note that I did remove the train to the underskirt and added cuffs to the bell sleeves – otherwise, I constructed the gown according to the pattern design.
