1770′s Polonaise

Tonia - Highly Recommended

This dress went together like a dream. It is very straight forward, and easy to understand. I did have to size up the sleeves, as they seemed a little narrow, and I have very cushy arms. I also cut some of the length off, as I wanted the sleeves to only be elbow length. The pattern does come with a petticoat pattern, however I did not use it, I just followed the directions for it, using two lengths of satin, and box pleated a ruffle to the bottom. I added a white lace trim to the box pleat around the petticoat. I purchased the buttons that you can cover in fabric to use for the buttons on the back of the bodice for the skirt hikes. For decoration on the bodice, I did a box pleat trim made from fabric that was pinked. I placed this trim around the sleeves and neckline. I really like this pattern, and see myself using it again and again. :)

More about this dress and it’s construction can be seen on my blog at Just Blame Jane.
