Reconstructing History was founded in August of 1997. In the beginning, they offered replica clothing for sale, wrote instructions for beginners, and posted dress diaries. In August of 2003, they started selling patterns geared toward reenactors and historical garment makers.
Angie’s review: Reconstructing History is an SCA approved pattern company which markets itself as offering products of outstanding quality; however, while customers reviews (by novices and professionals alike) offer many favorable comments toward this company’s patterns and service, reviews have been equally as unfavorable. I advise, as a professional tailor, that when purchasing from RH, the buyer should proceed with caution and thoughtfully research his or her desired pattern carefully before making a purchase. The company does have a reasonable return policy (where most theatrical pattern companies do not allow returns on patterns).
