Regency Underthings

ToniaHighly Recommended (Chemise)

I love this pattern! This is a very easy and straight forward pattern. The instructions are great, with helpful illustrations. This pattern consists of only 5 pattern pieces: front, back, sleeve, sleeve gusset and bias tape piece. For my chemise, I did use pre-made bias tape, just to save time. I was able to make this from beginning to end in about 3 hours. This garment is made from poly/cotton broadcloth.

Angela- Highly Recommended (Chemise)

T is right – this is a very easy pattern to put together, however, because I am always one who likes “ease of use” – – I did not like the underarm gusset – well, the fact that it is SQUARE (why make sleeve construction more difficult than it should me, right?). So, I cut the square gusset in half creating two triangles and attached a triangle to either side of the sleeve. This in turn allowed me to attach the open sleeve to the shoulder of the chemise, and then sew a nice straight stitch from the underarm of the chemise to the hem closing the hole side of the gown. Easy breezy!
