This is another nice pattern from Truly Victorian. This pattern offers 2 views, one with ruffle and one without. I chose to make the view with the ruffle. The pieces are clearly marked, and go together easily. The directions, as before, were very clear and precise. The only thing I had an issue with is the ruffle at the bottom of the skirt. The instructions for the pattern piece states to cut 5 on the fold, sew together in a big loop, and either gather or pleat to the skirt, matching the hem line of the ruffle to the hem line of the skirt. As I wanted to pleat the ruffle, it did not match up, no matter how large or small I made the pleats, or how far apart I placed them. My fix for this was to cut another panel, and use the stripes on my fabric as a guide for the pleating. To see how I accomplished this, you can check on my personal blog, Just Blame Jane.

This is a very user friendly pattern – with only minor adjustments needed in the length and hips (for proper fitting) the pattern pieces come together very well. This skirt is easy enough to alter (in design and trimmings) to give a personal touch to the garment. NOTE: When constructing this underskirt, I did not use the rectangular back pattern piece (the part of the skirt meant to be pleated and tied back) – I only desired the ruffle around the hem.
