TV303 – 1872 Side Drape Overskirt

This is another Truly Victorian pattern that I have been wanting to try out, and making a Victorian Cotton Day Dress was the perfect opportunity. It is very basic in shape, has only 4 pattern pieces, minimal large pleating, goes together like a dream, and can be trimmed in various ways to make a unique overskirt every time. For my first try at this pattern, I picked a blue on blue, vining calico cotton, with a bright blue cotton solid for the lining. I used just a bit of white eyelet lace for trim across the front. This pattern is intended to be worn with a bustle from the early bustle era, however, I will be wearing it as natural form. It looks nice both ways. One small note, the drawling on the front of the pattern pouch does not show the 2 long ties in the back. These can be left off of the overskirt to get what is pictured on the pouch.
