This overskirt drapes beautifully in the front and in the back giving the perfect late Victorian silhouette. The pattern pieces fit together very well with little adjustment for the waist – the most that may have to be done is that the length may have to be taken up for shorter wearers – this overskirt is several inches longer than TV324 (1878 Long Overskirt, which Tonia has reviewed).
I would like to mention that the construction technique for this skirt, while not difficult, is unique in contrast to other Victorian overskirt patterns I have reviewed – my advice, as you begin to piece the skirt together, is to simply trust and follow the directions as Truly Victorian has them written. My overskirt is made from a medium weight white striped satin and lined in white satin (both front and back – the pattern only calls for the back of the overskirt to be lined).
Any questions regrading the construction of this over skirt, please give me a holler at the Emerald Parlor; or visit me at The Merry Dressmaker.
